Advent is my favorite Church season of the year...this time of preparation for Christmas is a time when the Church is invited to be quiet and introspective, to ready ourselves for the coming of Christ at Christmas. And who doesn't need some quiet and peace toward the end of the fall semester? This year, though, Advent is very short, since Christmas falls on a Monday. So, try to take some time away from the hectic pace of December to spend in quiet, asking the Lord to help you to know his presence in your life. Come, Emmanuel!! Peace! Fr. Ed

Advent Day of Reflection 9:30am-4:00pm
To help prepare ourselves for Advent, we'll have a day of prayer and reflection at the Bergamo Retreat Center in Beavercreek. Sign up by TOMORROW if you would like to go! We will have a couple of short talks with plenty of time for reflection-and, if the weather holds, time for a nice hike in the woods behind the retreat center! Just $15 covers the cost, and includes a hot lunch. If that fee is a hardship, just talk to Fr. Ed or Nic. The link to the sign up page is below:
Giving Tree...We've put up a Giving Tree in our front lounge, to benefit local Dayton families for Christmas. There are just a few tags left, so if you would like to participate, stop in soon. Gifts are due back next Wednesday, Dec. 6th.
Our Knights of Columbus Council completed the canned food drive last week, collecting more than 450 canned goods. All the food collected went to St. Vincent de Paul in Dayton. We had a friendly competition with the Knights Council in Fairborn--if we collected more canned goods than they do, they'll come over here some Sunday and make us breakfast! And, we won! So they will be coming over in the next few weeks to cook breakfast! Stay tuned for the details.
Feast of the Immaculate Conception: is coming up next week! Its a Holy Day of Obligation! We will have Mass the evening before (Thursday, Dec. 7) at 6:30pm, and on the day itself, Friday, Dec. 8, at 12:15pm.
Christmas!! If you are planning ahead, we will have a Christmas Eve Mass at 7:00pm. (As Christmas Eve is a Sunday, there will also be the regular 11:00am Mass (for the Fourth Sunday of Advent)
