FEAST OF ST. NICHOLAS
The patron of St. Nicholas is celebrated on Wednesday, December 6. St. Nicholas was a fourth-century bishop of Myra in Asia Minor. Legend has it that St. Nicholas tossed bags of gold coins in the window of a man who was unable to provide dowries for his daughters to marry. His charity and generosity are remembered through the custom of placing one’s shoes by the door in hopes of receiving a small treat. Honor the Feast of St. Nicholas by doing an unseen act of charity for someone.
FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
On Friday, December 8, we celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Holy Cross will observe the Holy Day of Obligation by participating in the Mass at the Lonsdale parish at 8:15 a.m. On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, we contemplate that while other members of the human race are cleansed from original sin after birth, in Mary, Jesus’ work was so powerful as to prevent original sin at the outset. Honor Mary with a Memorare or Hail Holy Queen today.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
Students have been hard at work practicing for the Christmas program. Bring friends and family to enjoy the beautiful songs and music in celebration of the Christmas season. Performances are on Thursday, December 14, at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the Holy Cross gym.
