The Elyria Catholic community sends a big EC thank you to Dr. Saritoprak, PhD. Dr. Saritoprak is a professor in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies and the Bediuzzaman Said Nursi Chair in Islamic Studies at John Carroll University. Dr. Saritoprak is the author of numerous works on Islamic theology in English, Turkish, and Arabic, and most recently authored Islam’s Jesus.

Counseling Department Name Change
In order to accurately serve our students, we as a department feel that it is important to change our name from the “Guidance Department” to the “Counseling Department.” The term “Guidance” is outdated because it typically describes a department that was served by an individual, with no specific training, to guide students into careers. At Elyria Catholic High School, our Counseling Department serves many different functions. We follow the American School Counselor Association standards and ethics to provide our students with academic, personal/social, and career/college support. This takes place in the form of individual, small group, large group, and classroom presentations. Please support us in this effort to best serve our students.

College Credit Plus Meeting
If you are interested in your student taking a College Credit Plus (CCP) course during the next school year then please attend the mandatory CCP Meeting on December 12th. The meeting will be held in the Library from 6-7:00 pm. Nadia Leary from Lorain County Community College will be discussing information and requirements for taking a College Credit Plus Course
