Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
Every week, members of Nativity visit the sick. Some are homebound. Some are in South Seminole Hospital. Some are in Lake Mary Rehab, Brookdale, the Palms, or another assisted living facility. For those that cannot come to Mass, we bring Mass and communion to them!
Nativity is a community. We look out for each other. We have each other’s back. That’s what a community does.
(If you know someone who is not able to come to Mass, please call the parish office 407-322-3961. I will visit them and arrange for a minister to the sick to visit them regularly.)
This is the time of year to renew our commitment to Nativity’s vision, to be A Welcoming Community of Believers. Our contribution to the Sunday collection supports our vision.
The Fall Festival three weeks ago showed the strength of community. No one person could make it happen. It was a huge success thanks to the willing hands and hearts of so many of our parish community. More than a fun event, the Fall Festival was a faith event. Thank you for making visible our parish vision to be A Welcoming Community of Believers.
Our living parish community is a shining light to counter the blaming, contemptuous spirit poisoning our society. The Church shines with concord and unity, giving hope to those who dwell in darkness and strife.
The heart of our faith is the Eucharist. It is no accident that we call it “communion.” The Body and Blood of Christ make us one body, one spirit in Christ.
Before Vision Sunday on November 14, you will receive a letter and pledge card in the mail. One side of the card says, “I would like to find out more about (Choose One)….”
If you choose on the pledge card, “Helping at Mass,” you will get a phone call from Billy B Williamson, our Director of Liturgy & Communication. He will help you consider whether you might help at Mass as a Reader, an Altar Server, a Minister of Hospitality, or a Sacristan. You might discern another way that the Lord is calling you to build up the parish community.
If you choose on the pledge card, “Music and Arts in Worship,” you will get a phone call from Phillip Revekant, our Director of Music. He will help you consider whether you might belong in the choir as a singer or playing an instrument. You might have a creative streak that can add to the physical environment with flowers, banners, arrangements, and so on.
Whether you give online or with offertory envelopes, complete the pledge card. Bring it to Mass this coming weekend and put it in the collection basket. Take part in our vision to be A Welcoming Community of Believers.
In Christ,
Father David
