Good morning!
I hope you've had another great week. Our week has gone by quickly. It was wonderful meeting with the rest of you for conferences on Tuesday.
Reminders:
1. There is an early out next Wednesday, November 24th.
2. We will have Thanksgiving break from Thursday, November 25th through Monday, November 29th. School will resume on Tuesday, November 30th.
3. Please remember to send coats, hats, and gloves with your child each day.
4. If your child hasn't completed it yet, please have him/her finish the saint project for Mrs. Fritz for Faith Formation.
We've had a busy week in 4th Grade. Here is what we've been up to:
Reading: The students completed their Number the Stars projects in class. We began presentations of the projects today. Those that didn't go today will present their projects next week.
Writing: The students are working on typing their Thanksgiving themed stories and will share them with the class next week.
Grammar: The students reviewed how to make singular and plural nouns possessive (examples: [the cat's food] and [the babies' bottles]).
Math: We reviewed 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication, and the students took their tests. They all did very well! Your child's test should have come home yesterday. Our new unit is on division. Today we used models to solve division problems with remainders.
Spelling: We worked with the inflectional endings of -ing and -ed. They learned that sometimes they needed to double the consonant or drop the final "e" before adding the endings. We will NOT have a spelling list or test next week because it's a very short week.
Social Studies: The students continued to learn about the Central Pacific Railroad Company and compared and contrasted it to the Union Pacific Railroad Company. The students were amazed how long it took them to finish the Transcontinental Railroad.
Have a blessed weekend!
