Beginning the Church's liturgical year, Advent (from, "ad-venire" in Latin or "to come to") is the season encompassing the four Sundays (and weekdays) leading up to the celebration of Christmas. This year, Advent begins on Sunday, November 28.
The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and to the anniversary of Our Lord’s birth on Christmas. From the earliest days of the Church, people have been fascinated by Jesus’ promise to come back. But the scripture readings during Advent tell us not to waste our time with predictions. Advent is not about speculation. Our Advent readings call us to be alert and ready, not weighted down and distracted by the cares of this world (Lk 21:34-36). Advent also includes an element of penance in the sense of preparing, quieting, and disciplining our hearts for the full joy of Christmas..
LITTLE BLUE BOOKS (available in English or in Spanish)for Advent and Christmas Season with six-minute reflections and daily gospels to be distributed at all Masses this weekend.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Join us every Tuesday in the church from 4 PM to 7 PM. Additional confession times during advent are also available on Tuesdays from 5 - 7 PM in the church.
LET'S PREPARE OUR HEARTS FOR MASS
BEFORE MASS
Take time to read the Mass readings. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your mind and heart to hear the Word of God.
Thank you for your financial contributions! Giving with a cheerful heart is one of the ways we show our obedience to God and demonstrate our recognition that we are only stewards of our earthly possessions. God gives to you so He can give through you.
ANOTHER WAY TO MAKE YOUR CHURCH DONATION
An easy way to give a donation to the church’s general collection is by text. To get started, text the amount you want to give to 424-360-2500. With your first donation, you will receive a link to enter your payment information. After that, simply text the amount you want to give and that is it! This is a great way to supplement your online recurring donation.

Understanding the dangers of carbon monoxide
Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas that is often undetected. More than 400 people in the U.S. die every year from unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning, and thousands more are hospitalized. When gas builds up in enclosed spaces, people or animals who breathe it in can be poisoned. Consider installing a battery-operated carbon monoxide detector, and have your furnace, water heater, and other gas or coal-burning appliances serviced regularly, along with your chimney. For more information, visit https://www.nsc.org/home-safety/safety-topics/other-poisons/carbon-monoxide.
