St. Theresa family,
I am writing to you today about the Catholic Services Appeal (CSA). In the past year, we have endured hardships and have found great comfort in our faith. It is true that Christ makes all things new and is the reason for our hope. Whether we experienced a major life change or simply grew to appreciate the simple blessings in life, Christ has been expanding our hearts to accept and share His love.
For many, a gesture of gratitude has been the annual response to our Bishop’s appeal. For those who have yet to do so, I again ask you to join your fellow parishioners with a gift to the annual Catholic Services appeal.
Last year, our parish fell short of making our CSA goal of $265,000. A first in the history of this parish. This year less than 50% in pledges have been received toward that same goal. At this time only 153 pledges have been received from our parish community of nearly 2000 households. As the bishop often says it is not how much you give but the fact that you give which is important. It is a demonstration of our desire to see the work of the kingdom carried out in those places and ministries that depend on our generosity. Please consider how you can give so that we may, as a parish community, come together to meet our CSA goal successfully and fund critical programs of the Diocese of Austin. You can send in the envelope you received for CSA in the mail, or you can
give online here.
I invite you to reflect on the ways that Christ has expanded your heart in the last year. Your gift empowers our bishop to support a Catholic presence at our university campuses, educate seminarians, support evangelization efforts and much more. When we empty our hearts for the sake of Christ’s people, our hearts are ready to be filled entirely with the mercy, grace and goodness of Christ’s love.
May God bless you and your families this Thanksgiving and always,
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Larry Covington
