Our New Ministry: Parents of Prodigals
Do you have a loved one who has left the Church? Please join us during our next meeting of Parents of Prodigals on Thursday December 9 at 6 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall. In our November meeting we informally shared our experiences with our “lost prodigals”, including our frustrations and disappointments. In our upcoming meeting we’ll focus on socializing via having an Advent/Christmas season celebration. We will provide refreshments and snacks. Please RSVP me at
james.m.bornholdt@gmail.com so I can get a headcount. Actually, please email me even if you are not able to make the December meeting because I’d like to get a contact list of those interested in future meetings.
Surveys at the introductory meeting in August indicated an interest in monthly meetings in which we all get together to pray, share, learn, strategize and socialize. In response I am planning on having regular meetings on the second Thursday of each month, which hopefully does not conflict with any other regularly scheduled parish meetings.
I started this ministry based on my own suffering when one of my sons left the Faith. The main intent is to get people together so that we realize we are not alone in this dilemma. Children or grandchildren or others leaving the faith is a widespread problem that causes heartaches for so many of us today. Please see me after Mass or email me for questions, comments or suggestions.
Thanks,
Deacon Jim
