FROM THE PASTOR
My dear friends,
Advent is a jam-packed season. It comes with a mix of joy, anticipation, stress, surprise, and hope. There is an urgency about Advent. It asks us to prepare ourselves for something big that is just about to break over the horizon. That something is the coming of the light of Jesus Christ. Just as that happened so long ago, so it happens in our hearts today. The invitation before us is to spend some time taking a look at the state of our spiritual lives and make adjustments if necessary. We hope to be ready to celebrate Christmas with joy and purpose. At the same time, God has something immediate and fully present now that he wants to give us. God desires to be with us now, in this moment. He wants to give us his life and grace even while we prepare. For that reason, I chose the theme “The Time is Now” for Advent this year. My hope is that we can welcome the Lord in this moment, and receive him now, to see his Spirit at work in the present moment. The time is now to see the wonders He is working. The time is now to turn back to Him if you have strayed. The time is now to rejoice with Him and to share that joy with others. In this way, we don’t fight the flow of the season, but invite the Lord into it. That helps us focus on what is truly important. I pray that you will encounter Jesus in a profound way each week of this Advent season and continue that joyful interaction through the Christmas season and beyond.
God bless you all,
Fr. Don
