Adoration to Defeat Abortion

This Wednesday on December 1, join Catholics across the country in Eucharistic Adoration when the Supreme Court hears the landmark pro-life case, Dobbs vs Jackson Women’s Health.
Please join us in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament this Wednesday, December 1, any time from 8:00am to 12:00pm and pray for an end to abortion and for a favorable outcome of Dobbs vs Jackson Women's Health.
Bambinelli Sunday
Advent is right around the corner and it is a time of preparation for the coming of our Lord in the form of a child. We celebrate this most beautiful season by preparing a Nativity scene in our homes, in anticipation of Christmas and out of love for the Holy Family. To make this season even more special, have your baby Jesus figurine blessed at Mass!
Each year, on the third Sunday of Advent, the faithful bring the baby Jesus figurine or “Bambinelli” from their nativity set to St. Peter’s Square for a blessing by the Pope.
Here at St. Andrew, we carry on this wonderful tradition. On Bambinelli Sunday, bring your baby Jesus, tied with a colorful ribbon and name tag, to Church for a special prayer and blessing.
Don’t have a Bambinelli? You can purchase one here at Church with all the proceeds going to our Christmas “Giving Tree” program for those in our area who need our help.

Jesse is a full-time bilingual Catholic Lay Evangelist, who is nationally acclaimed for his dynamic, upbeat Christ centered preaching. His preaching apostolate is “On Fire Evangelization.”
Jesse is a resident of Arizona and a retired Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff who has been married to his wife Anita since 1983, and is parent of three children and grandchildren.

Andrew was Saint Peter’s brother, and was called with him. “As [Jesus] was walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is now called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fishermen. He said to them, ‘Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ At once they left their nets and followed him” (Matthew 4:18-20).
John the Evangelist presents Andrew as a disciple of John the Baptist. When Jesus walked by one day, John said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.” Andrew and another disciple followed Jesus. “Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, ‘What are you looking for?’ They said to him, ‘Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are you staying?’ He said to them, ‘Come, and you will see.’ So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day” (John 1:38-39a).
Little else is said about Andrew in the Gospels. Before the multiplication of the loaves, it was Andrew who spoke up about the boy who had the barley loaves and fishes. When the Gentiles went to see Jesus, they came to Philip, but Philip then had recourse to Andrew.
Legend has it that Andrew preached the Good News in what is now modern Greece and Turkey and was crucified at Patras on an X-shaped cross.

Why does the Church not sacramentally anoint bodies after death?
One purpose of the Sacrament of the Sick and its anointing of the living person is to instill hope and healing before death. After death, when healing can no longer take place, the Church has other prayers but does not anoint the dead body.
The Church provides a number of rites or liturgies as parishes offer the ministry of consolation to families experiencing sickness and death. First, for the sick, the Church has the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. As soon as a person is seriously sick or injured, the parish should be called to request the anointing. This anointing can be received many times in one’s life and should not be limited to the last hour of life. After death, the Church does not anoint the body but offers other special prayers commending the soul to the Merciful Lord.

Pastors often remind their parishioners that the sick are to be anointed at the beginning of a serious illness as well as through the various stages of the illness as it progresses.
