A Word From Your Pastor
Please be reminded that next Wednesday is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the patroness of our land. We will have a Mass at 7 PM on Tuesday evening, Dec. 7, and at 9 AM on December 8th to observe this holy day of obligation. Please join us. The following prayer highlights who it is we honor on those days:
Lord our God, by your gift the Virgin Mary welcomed and carried within herself the Word made flesh. Grant that we also may be bearers of Christ and await with patience the revelation of his all-powerful love.
Hear us, God, blessed for ever and ever. Amen.
Next week - on the day following the Feast - we will have our Advent Penance Service, Thursday, December 9th at 7 PM. There will be six priests serving as confessors that evening.
May the following words of Fr. Sebastian White, OP, prepare us to celebrate the Lord’s peace and forgiveness:
We have entered a season that is naturally rather nostalgic, though it may be that not all our memories and associations are sweetness and light. Saint John Paul II once spoke of the “purification of memory,” the healing that results from the honest recognition of wrongs – the ones we have suffered and committed – and the grace of forgiveness. I pray that in the coming weeks we may all find consolation knowing that we have a tender father in Saint Joseph, a compassionate mother in Mary, and a brother and friend in Lord Jesus – in whom we are reconciled to God and one another.
God bless
