Good morning!
It's so hard to believe we are already into the month of December. Time seems to be going so quickly! Some reminders for next week:
1. Please remember to send your child with a coat, hat, and gloves each day. The weather seems to be fluctuating back and forth between cooler and warmer days.
2. Midterms will go home on Monday. Please be looking for those. If you have any questions, please let me know.
3. Next Friday, December 10th is an early dismissal day.
Although our week has been short, we've accomplished quite a bit!
Here's what we've been up to:
Reading: We began a new novel unit! Our class is now studying Tuck Everlasting. We have been working on analyzing characters, making inferences, and summarizing.
Math: We are continuing our new unit on division. The students worked with finding quotients with remainders, dividing tens, hundreds, and thousands, interpreting the remainder, and using compatible numbers to estimate when dividing. Next week, we will continue working with division by learning how to divide three-digit numbers by one-digit numbers.
Spelling: The students continued to work with the inflectional endings of -ed and -ing. The students took their tests today and did very well.
Science: The students continued to work on the STEM kits building different circuits within a "house".
Social Studies: The students worked with partners to compare and contrast the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroad companies.
Writing: The students presented their Thanksgiving stories to the class.
Have a blessed rest of your 1st Week of Advent!
