Have you ever wondered if your child is speaking at the level that they should be?  Did you know that speaking to your child can build your child’s brain?  I would like to invite this parish to an event that I am organizing at the school I teach at, St. Mary in Derby.  On Thurs. Feb. 8th from 7:00-8:00pm in the St. Mary School Library, come to see what you can do to grow children’s brains and help them in their development.  Dr. Kathy Stratton, speech-language pathologist and retired professor, will be joining us to identify where children should be in their speech development at different ages and learn how “Tuning in”, “Talking More”, and “Taking Turns” with your child can make a lasting change in any child’s life.  .  This is a topic that is geared for parents, grandparents, and childcare providers that are around young children.   Childcare will be provided during this time, but you must register before the day of the workshop.  You may do that by emailing Marcia Helten at mhelten@stmarysderby.com (include number and ages of children needing childcare).  This event is sponsored by St. Mary PTO and Preschool and is FREE to you.
