To our IHM Faithful,
In light of our Governor’s new mandate, the Archdiocese of New York has asked that we be in communication with you concerning new regulations that will commence on Monday, December 13th.
The mandate requires all persons over age two who able to medically tolerate a face covering/mask, regardless of vaccination status, to wear an appropriate face covering/mask while in any indoor public place. This applies to churches and our parish offices and meeting spaces.
The mandate will be reassessed on January 15, 2022.
Therefore, effective Monday:
- parish office staff and visitors should wear masks at all times;
- All parishioners are asked to wear masks while in church.
At this time all communicants are encouraged to receive Holy Communion in the open hand rather than on the tongue.
For those who wish to receive on the tongue, please continue to come forward at the end of the Communion line so as to allow the Priests/Extraordinary Ministers to sanitize our hands in between each family.
Given this new mandate, I would encourage all appropriate people to wear masks for Masses this evening and tomorrow.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
In Christ,
Msgr. Luke Sweeney
Pastor
