This week...
*We had a full and busy week!
*Ms Diane from Ag in the Classroom stopped by to tell us about Christmas trees. Did you know it takes about 8 years for a tree, destined to be a Christmas tree, to grow 6 feet tall? Ms. Diane then read us a story about a girl and her family's Christmas Tree farm. We got to touch a pine, spruce, and fir tree.
*On Tuesday we painted a gingerbread person with brown paint with cinnamon stirred in it. Next week we will be decorating them and hanging them in the room.
*On Tuesday we bar graphed how many ornaments tall we were. 9 students were 16 ornaments tall and that was the biggest majority of the students.
*On Wednesday we got to ride the bus to the Community Center to practice for our concert. They sounded amazing! I am so sorry we didn't get to sing Wednesday night. They were all ready!
*On Thursday everyone was tired from the storm. We worked on our gifts for parents, played outside, played with gingerbread playdo during centers and "baked" some in the kitchen. Unfortunately Miss Jo from the Public Library was not feeling well and had to cancel her visit today.
Next week...
*We will finish up our parent gifts and send them home. My plan is Monday or Tuesday.
*On Monday we will listen to a story about Las Posadas and do a craft.
*Wednesday is our Christmas party day. We will be decorating a cookie for snack in the morning and then participating in some of the activities with the big kids. We will eat lunch in our room and then have a treat provided by Maylee and Emmalyn. It is an early out so please let me know if after school plans change because of a 12:55 dismissal.
Special Request...
*I was wondering if any of you had extra ribbon, lace, buttons, small scraps of fabric laying around your craft rooms that you would want to part with. I want the students to use these things to decorate their gingerbread person. Thank you for helping!
*In January we are going to be talking about snow and hibernation and I would love to build with the preschoolers an igloo in our classroom. I am in need of gallon size milk or juice jugs that have been cleaned out. We will need about 150-200 gallon size milk jugs to make an igloo big enough for a couple students to sit in at a time. I am so excited about this and I haven't even told the kids yet! I know they are going to love it! Thank you for your help! You can start collecting and send them in after Christmas break. If I need to come get them please let me know!
Reminders...
*Wednesday is an early out at 12:55.
*Send back library books on Monday.
*Send clean water bottles on Monday.
Esta semana...
* ¡Tuvimos una semana llena y ocupada!
* La Sra. Diane de Ag in the Classroom pasó a hablarnos sobre los árboles de Navidad. ¿Sabías que se necesitan alrededor de 8 años para que un árbol, destinado a ser un árbol de Navidad, crezca 6 pies de altura? La Sra. Diane luego nos leyó una historia sobre una niña y la granja de árboles de Navidad de su familia. Llegamos a tocar un pino, un abeto y un abeto.
* El martes pintamos una persona de pan de jengibre con pintura marrón con canela mezclada. La semana que viene los estaremos decorando y colgando en la habitación.
* El martes hicimos un gráfico de barras de cuántos adornos de altura teníamos. 9 estudiantes tenían 16 adornos de alto y esa era la mayor parte de los estudiantes.
* El miércoles tomamos el autobús hasta el Centro Comunitario para practicar para nuestro concierto. ¡Sonaban increíbles! Siento mucho que no pudiéramos cantar el miércoles por la noche. ¡Estaban todos listos!
* El jueves todos estaban cansados por la tormenta. Trabajamos en nuestros regalos para los padres, jugamos afuera, jugamos con playdo de pan de jengibre durante los centros y "horneamos" algunos en la cocina. Desafortunadamente, la señorita Jo de la biblioteca pública no se sentía bien y tuvo que cancelar su visita hoy.
