Good afternoon everyone,
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break and were able to celebrate all of the solemnities with family and friends!
With the surge in the Omicron COVID variant, we want to remind everyone how important it is to stay diligent about your child's health in order to continue our priority of in-person learning. Please monitor your child for any COVID-like symptoms (i.e. cough, fever, chills, diarrhea, vomiting, etc.). If your child has any sign of COVID, please keep him/her home and expect that we will send them home if symptoms appear while at school -- unless we have confirmation that it is not COVID. This is to ensure the safety of all of our students while being in person as much as possible.
As of December 31, Madison Public School District announced that they will be going virtual upon return from Christmas break. Several of the Catholic Schools in Dane county are requiring negative tests to return to school. Lodi Public School District remains in person, and is now offering testing at the High School -- we are in communication with Lodi to see if this testing is open for students who reside in the Lodi boundaries (stay tuned for more information!)
Dane County Public Health is updating their Action Plans and Exclusion Charts to be released this week; but here are the most recent changes that were sent out to all Dane County schools:
- Isolation after a positive test
- The time for isolation following a positive COVID-19 test for asymptomatic individuals is now five days, followed by five days of wearing a mask when around others. Individuals can stop isolating after five days as long as their symptoms are improving and they have been fever-free for 24 hours. Symptomatic individuals should not return until 5 days have elapsed AND symptoms have improved.
- Quarantine after exposed to a positive person
- Everyone who has been exposed to someone who is COVID-19 positive should test after 5 days.
- Unvaccinated/More than six months from mRNA vaccine and not yet boosted/More than 2 months from J&J vaccine and not yet boosted: Quarantine for 5 days followed by strict mask use for an additional 5 days.
- Fully vaccinated AND boosted: Do not need to quarantine following exposure, but should wear a mask for 10 days after the exposure.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
See you tomorrow :)
