This week...
This week we took a bit of time to get back into the swing of preschool. I know I enjoyed my time away and did not have much of a routine so being back at school helped get me back on track.
*Ms Flor and I implemented a new way of doing centers. This week we assigned students to groups. The groups were with each other during center time the whole week and the groups moved together to the centers. I set a timer to help with this. When the time was up they cleaned up a bit and then moved to the next group. Not all centers were open. This helps students socialize with friends they don't normally associate with. It is also helping broaden their play. Some students will only choose to be in the art center or only in the blocks. Next week students will stay in the same group.
*This week we worked on counting to 10 with our Adam Antler reindeer. Each students got to pull a cabbage that had a number on it from his mouth. They said the number and then counted aloud to that number. Previously we had carrots that had letters on them. We will switch back and forth.
*We worked on writing their names as well. Each student has a page that has their name written in a clear folder and they trace over it. We work on their every day during centers.
*This week Ms. Diane came in and talked about milk with us. We learned there are two kinds of cows, dairy and beef, and milk comes from dairy cows. We also got to taste three different kinds of milk, soy, strawberry, and cinnamon toast crunch. They then voted on their favorite kind. Strawberry was the most popular.
*The Christmas program was wonderful! Thank you all for bringing your child so they could sing! We hope you enjoyed it.
Next week...
*Next week we will start working on letter formation. Each day we will have a new letter to learn to trace and practice. We will soon have a book of the letters to bring home to show you all we learned.
*We will talk about snow and ice and hopefully go outside and play in the snow!
Reminders...
*Monday is library day.
*Tuesday is PE day.
*Bring clean water bottle back on Monday.
*Please put your child's name on their snow gear. We have lots of black boots and black snowpants.
*Please send shoes with your child to wear in the classroom. We don't want wet boots bringing snow in and having a child slip in it.
*Thank you for sending in gallon milk jugs! Please send more!
