Pour le reste du monde il est St André Bessette et ils ont célébré sa fête hier le 6 janvier. Mais pour nous les Canadiens, il est tout simplement frère André et nous célébrons aujourd'hui sa fête.

Le frère André, né Alfred Bessette, demeure certainement l’un des Québécois les plus populaires du 20e siècle. Bien avant qu’il soit canonisé, en 2010, la réputation de sainteté du frère André avait franchi les frontières et marqué des générations.
D’abord portier au Collège Notre-Dame puis gardien du lieu de prière qui s’est développé sur le mont Royal, le religieux a accueilli des milliers de personnes souffrantes ou en quête d’espérance. Il les a écoutées, leur recommandant de prier saint Joseph en qui il mettait toute sa confiance.
De nombreuses guérisons miraculeuses ont eu lieu et des cœurs se sont ouverts à Dieu. Aujourd’hui, saint frère André continue d’être une inspiration et un ami pour des femmes et des hommes de toutes religions.

To the rest of the world he is St. André Bessette and they celebrated his feast yesterday January 6th. But to we Canadians he is simply Brother André and we celebrate his feast day today.

Even before he was canonized in 2010, Brother André's reputation for holiness crossed frontiers and influenced generations of people.
At first assigned to be doorkeeper at Collège Notre-Dame, he was then named caretaker at that house of prayer which he shepherded into existence on Mount Royal. The religious brother welcomed thousands of distressed people or those who were looking for a ray of hope. He listened to them and recommended that they pray to Saint Joseph in whom he had full confidence. Any number of miraculous healings took place there and hearts turned toward God. Today, Saint Brother André continues to be an inspiration and a friend for women and men of any religious practice.
