Dear parish family,
This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. A great time to once again recall that we have received a great gift from God though our own baptism - we have become members of His Family. We are His sons and daughters! Please join us to worship God and give thanks for this amazing gift. The Bishop has asked us to continue to wear masks while at gathered for Mass. Thank you for your sacrifice and cooperation.
For those who are sick or homebound please know that you can join us through our livestream at the 9:30 Mass on Sunday. Simply go to YouTube - then type St. Catherine of Siena West Dundee - and you will see our Mass recordings. Click on the Baptism of the Lord. Please know we are united in prayer.
This weekend we will also make a slight change at the conclusion of Mass. For sometime now, St. Catherine's and St. Mary's added the Hail Holy Queen prayer after the St. Michael prayer. Beginning this weekend we will only pray the St. Michael prayer and then follow with the closing hymn. This change is to be more unified with the Diocesan parishes. The vast majority of parishes in our Diocese and country pray the St. Michael prayer after the final blessing of Mass. Thank you for understanding.
Please stop in this week to visit Jesus and pray. There is much to pray about these days. In a special way we pray for greater respect for the unborn. January 22nd marks the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton which legalized abortion in the United States in 1973. We need to continue to lovingly witness and pray for this to stop. Today, January 8th there will be a March for Life in Chicago, then next Saturday January 15th their will be a March for Life in Rockford (details in the bulletin.) And on then on January 22nd, Bishop Malloy will celebrate a special Pro-Life Mass at St. Mary Huntley. It will begin at 10:00am. Please consider joining us for one or several of these events. Details for Bishops Mass will be in upcoming bulletins.
God bless you all and let's all keep joy-filled and hope-filled in the midst of the challenges we all face. God is with us!
Fr. John
