"They Have No Wine"
On this Sunday we celebrate the first miracle of Jesus at the Wedding Feast of Cana.
Remember that Jesus was fully human—he ate, he slept, he wept, he laughed, and he went to weddings. When the bride and the groom run out of wine at Cana, Mary prompts Jesus to act: "They have no wine."
But Jesus knows that with this first miracle his public ministry begins, a ministry that will ultimately lead to the Cross. Mary, aware of her son's mission at hand, detaches herself and says to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."
The symbolic nature of the water to wine foreshadows both the blood that Christ will pour out for us from the Cross and the "new wine" of the Eucharist that will nourish his Church and never run dry!

UPDATES FROM ST. COLUMBA - January 15-16
Monday, January 17 is the Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday. Morning Mass is at 8:00 am. The Parish Office will be closed and there will be No Adoration.
Father Michael will be away from the parish January 16-21.
Catholic Underground North TODAY (Saturday) at 7:30 pm at St. Joachim Church, Beacon. We begin with a Holy Hour that will be led by Father Chris Argano. Confessions will be available. After the Holy Hour, you are invited to a Social in the gym. While geared to Young Adults, ALL are welcome at Catholic Underground!
The Cardinal’s Appeal Begins for 2022
This weekend marks the beginning of the Cardinal’s Appeal for 2022. The funds that together we will give to this year’s Appeal will be used for the following needs in our Archdiocese:
(1) Assistance for Financially Vulnerable Parishes
(2) Charitable Outreach and Pastoral Support
(3) Evangelization, Communications, and Catholic Education
(4) Formation of New Parish Priests
(5) Care for Retired Priests
Many parishioners already faithfully participate in the Appeal every year, and we are most grateful. Those who did not participate last year or that have never participated, we ask you to please seriously consider this invitation. Our goal as a parish is for every family and parishioner to participate in some way.
Our parish goal for the Appeal this year is $124,500.00. The overall goal for all parishes in the archdiocese combined is $21 Million dollars. Last year our parish raised $134,000.00. If all of our parishioners participate we will easily reach our goal this year.
You should have received a letter from our archbishop, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, with a pledge card to make your gift. Additional pledge envelopes are in the bulletin racks in church. Thank you and God bless you for your generous response.
