Happy Friday of the First Week
in Ordinary Time!
There is no youth group this Sunday, 1/16... Our next meeting will be Sunday, 1/23!
We'll discuss the place we worship, specifically our church, St. Luke.
Also, a huge thank you to everyone who participated in PURIFIED last night, either by attending or volunteering!! Jason's talk was so engaging, strengthened by the time of Adoration and Confession. Msgr. Ingham processed with our Lord down the main aisle, allowing each person a close encounter with our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, before reposing our Lord. - This Saturday, January 15th, is the Diocesan Mass for Life and the NC March for Life. The Diocesan flier is below; as you can see, it's going to be a full day of praying for and standing up for life, especially for unborn children. For those who desire to join, we (St. Luke's Youth Ministry) are going as a group! In addition to youth, families are welcome and encouraged to participate. We plan on attending the entire day, from the Rosary through the March. You are welcome to meet us at the events (please see the email sent on 1/11 for more details and to RSVP). If you want to carpool with us, we are:
- meeting at St. Luke at 9:30am and departing no later than 9:45am.
- eating lunch on the go, so please pack a lunch.
- returning to St. Luke around 4pm (we will text/call day of with accurate time).
- In honor of the National and Diocesan Marches for Life, we are decorating our Faith Formation bulletin board with baby pictures and/or ultrasounds of our students and youth leaders! Please bring your picture to class this week or turn it in to the Faith Formation mailbox in the copy room anytime in the next two weeks.
- Our second Bingo Night is Saturday, 1/29 from 7-9pm!! We need volunteers to help with baking desserts, serving food, running the prize table, and calling numbers. Please keep an eye out for an email with more details!
- Vita Nova - Spring Retreat is coming up, March 18th-20th!! We're heading to Camp Rockfish, and the total cost is $160. To reserve your spot, permission forms and a $50 deposit are due by February 1st. Permission form and Retreat waiver are on the website: https://stlukesraleigh.org/vita-nova
- Current 8th-12th graders - We are heading to Steubenville Atlanta July 8th-10th!! Fr. Mike Schmitz is the main speaker, so we're in for an incredible weekend. The total cost is normally $400 - through fundraisers like Bingo night, we're able to bring cost down around $300 (or lower if our fundraisers are successful!!). - Parents (especially dads!!) - we are looking for youth leaders to actively participate at our youth nights. You don't need to be qualified, you don't need to know what's happening, all you need is to feel called by the Lord! Remember, your youth may not want you there, but they NEED you to witness a real relationship with Jesus to them.
