Mid-week Minute Devotional thought
Greetings Church Friends and Family,
In my personal devotions, two verses kept popping up over the last two weeks or so. Which caused me some pause and reflection. Read them with me, “13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13 (NLT). The second verse reads, “4Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.” Ps 37: 4, (NLT)
"Joy" and "Happiness" are two Bible words that we do not always understand very well. Perhaps we attach too much earthly value to these two words; rejoicing over earthly happiness. There is, of course, nothing wrong in doing so. One may rejoice in the things God gives you here on earth. In fact, the Bible repeatedly tells us about the wonderful gifts we can enjoy on earth. But the joy and happiness the Bible speaks of is something else. It has to do with inner peace and contentment that is not dependent on earthly things.
In Isaiah 9, something of the heavenly joy is expressed to us. It surpasses the joy of the abundance of earthly happiness. Wine and wheat and olives were the things that meant life fulfillment for people. But God gives something that is much more life-fulfilling. What can it be? What joy can be greater than the joy of harvest time? The joy of harvest time has to do with material gains. The joy that the Lord gives has to do with an inner, eternal gain. It is about gaining eternal life and a God who is with you every moment of every day.
The joy that the Lord gives us is a joy despite whatever the external circumstances are. This is the kind of joy that made Paul and Silas sing praises to God while being stuck in a stinking, dank prison cell.
When one finds joy in the Lord, you are connected to an inexhaustible source of joy.
I pray you will find your joy in the Lord this week.

Satan exalts himself (Selfishness)
As we are falling in line with our Main Campus’ preaching schedules, we will be having less in-person preaching this year. This also means fewer sermons being uploaded to our YouTube channel. We are encouraging those of you who are watching from home, to watch the sermons on Arlington Main Campus’ Facebook page, or catch up later on their Vimeo Channel. Due to technical difficulties, they could not stream last week’s sermon. That sermon is now available for you to watch.
