Hello first grade families!
I hope everyone is having a great start to the new year and a wonderful Christmas time with your love ones. I am so happy to see my 14 little friends again. It is so hard to believe that we are already beginning January. Where has this year gone already?
We are learning the following in each subject area.:
Reading- We will be working on this lesson for the next two weeks. We will be working with the same sight words and topic. We read a short story today about Apollo 11. This got the first graders very interested in the topic of space. (I see a science unit in our future about space :) ) We will also be working with this week's spelling words for the next two weeks. This week's theme is long o. Due to break ending on a Wednesday their reading logs will be due back on Friday, the 5th. Remember, feel free to send a paper copy, email or text me the minutes that were read. We are working towards Hershey Park, PA. Once we arrive we will be having a CHOCOLATE party!
Math- We began our new math chapter today. We are working on the relationship between addition and subtraction. This will be a great review for what we have learned about subtraction and addition already this year.
Science- We are still working on our pebbles, sand and silt unit. This week we are working on soil and how we can create it. We will be wrapping it up within the next couple of weeks.
In other news:- Thank you to everyone who has sent snacks this year. This week is Owen's week for snack. Next week Keegan will be in charge of snack.
- If you need a new snack schedule feel free to email me at any time and I will send you a new one home.
- Reminder to please check your student's backpack for any notes and tests that are being sent home.
Thank you so much for everything you do to help your student this year.
