"THEY HAVE NO WINE"

On this Sunday we celebrate the first miracle of Jesus at the Wedding Feast of Cana. Remember that Jesus was fully human—he ate, he slept, he wept, he laughed, and he went to weddings. When the bride and the groom run out of wine at Cana, Mary prompts Jesus to act: "They have no wine." But Jesus knows that with this first miracle his public ministry begins, a ministry that will ultimately lead to the Cross. Mary, aware of her son's mission at hand, detaches herself and says to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

The symbolic nature of the water to wine foreshadows both the blood that Christ will pour out for us from the Cross and the "new wine" of the Eucharist that will nourish his Church and never run dry! A TEAM TO ENRICH YOUR MARRIAGE

Would you like to have a night out with your spouse once a month that would provide the opportunity to get closer to each other and closer to God? Would you like to meet and become friends with your fellow parishioners? Would you like help to grow in holiness?

We are excited to be introducing Teams of Our Lady to St. Theresa’s Parish. Teams of Our Lady is an international lay movement of married spirituality with over 60,000 couples within the Catholic Church and was blessed by Pope John Paul II.

Teams forms small community groups of 5 to 7 couples that meet monthly, share a simple meal, pray together, and have lively discussions.

Check your closets! For the month of January, we are collecting used coats and sweatshirts to distribute to the homeless. Boanerges, a non-profit started by St. Theresa parishioners, is a foundation rooted in the principles of Catholic social justice. They also believe in reuse and recycling and are asking for items we already have but no longer need.

We normally prepare or cook food, box up the lunches and then serve them to the homeless in the area. Last month we made over 400 boxes and they were handed out in 20 minutes. The need is great in the Houston community and it's a privilege to serve and help those in need. We're pleased to announce that Casa Juan Diego is once again taking donations of sandwiches and packed lunches on Tuesdays.
