Our Church's New Mobile App is Here!
We’re excited to announce Cathedral of the Sacred Heart has upgraded our mobile app! Vanco, our eGiving provider, has launched an updated mobile app called Vanco Mobile to replace GivePlus Mobile.
You can download the Vanco Mobile app for free from the App Store or Google Play. From there, you can make a one-time donation or set up recurring giving right through the app. Just select your fund and amount, enter a payment method and complete the donation.
Please download Vanco Mobile by January 31. Vanco will be retiring GivePlus Mobile after this date.

Office Volunteers Needed on Thursdays & Fridays
Volunteers are needed to regularly staff the reception desk at the Cathedral, particularly on Thursdays and Fridays. This role consists mainly of answering phones and greeting visitors, as well as other light office work. Livestream Volunteers Needed!
The Cathedral parish assumed responsibility for livestreaming the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass on January 2, 2022. Volunteers are needed to help. Training and equipment are happily provided. The time commitment is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes per Sunday. If you would like to volunteer to conduct the livestreaming of the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass, please contact Fr. Volunteer Holy Hour and Reception

“I give thanks to my God at every remembrance of you, praying always with joy in my every prayer for all of you, because of your partnership for the gospel from the first day until now” (Philippians 1:3–5).
In thanksgiving for all parish volunteers, there will be a holy hour, featuring Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction, on Tuesday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m. A reception will follow from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. All parish volunteers are invited to attend, and are asked to RSVP.
Consultation

Last fall, Pope Francis launched a two-year Synod of Bishops (2021–2023). The theme for this worldwide event is synodality itself: “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission.”
As part of the Synod of Bishops, each parish is to conduct a consultation. All people will be invited to attend the consultation at the Cathedral, which will take place on Saturday, February 5 from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. in the parish hall. Those who would like to attend are asked to RSVP at bit.ly/cshsynod.
February Service Project:
CARITAS Men's Graduation Kits
For our February service project, we will be collecting items to create graduation kits for CARITAS, which are given to men who "graduate" from their programs. Bins will be placed in the parish hall for donations of needed items starting January 29, or you can donate to the Cathedral to help cover the cost of assembling a kit (approximately $20 per kit.) You can also help us assemble the kits at the Lenten family activities on February 26! The items needed are:

Collecting Palms
Palms that were blessed last year on Palm Sunday are now being collected in preparation for the beginning of Lent. After the palms are burnt, the ashes are imposed on the forehead on Ash Wednesday (March 2). Please deposit the palms in the baskets that have been placed at the entrance to the church.
Blessing of Throats
The annual blessing of throats will take place during the 12:00 N daily Mass on Thursday, February 3, which is the feast of Saint Blaise. According to tradition, Saint Blaise, a bishop and martyr of the early Church (died ca. 316 AD), miraculously dislodged a fish bone that was choking a child. Since then, the Church has invoked his intercession against all diseases of the throat.
Registration is now open for small group opportunities for Lent! Come together with other parishioners in a small group setting. Groups will meet once a week for three sessions.
Each small group will be using the book: Baptism: Alive in Christ. The cost for the book is $5.00 and will be available for pickup in the church or office after you register.

Lauds (Morning Prayer)

Twenty minutes a week can be a habit for a lifetime–start small and see how it can form a habit for you! The prayer has become a weekly habit for the past two years for about a dozen parishioners. It is a friendly, welcoming group. If your schedule allows, please join us on Zoom.
Knights of Columbus Award
The Knights of Columbus Award for Outstanding Service is granted to one boy and one girl high-school senior whose family is registered at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, who has been active in the parish and is also active in service to their school and community. Parish Hall & Church
Let’s prepare together for Lent. Ash Wednesday is March 2, so let’s gather together before then, to work and pray together. Activities will include putting together kits for CARITAS, creating a prayer chain of intentions, a Lenten soup recipe exchange, and a holy half-hour which includes the exposition and benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
The RCIA ministry has been supported by our parish in many ways, and we are so thankful for your prayers and support. RCIA Sessions will begin again on Tuesday, January 18. If you are able to sign up to provide snacks for the RCIA session that would be very much appreciated. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

The Rite of Christian Initian, best known as RCIA is a spiritual process which prepares adults to receive one or more of the “Sacraments of Initiation,” namely Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.
Are you an unbaptized adult who is interested in developing your spirituality and may want to be baptized into the family of the Catholic Faith? Are you a baptized Christian who is considering expressing your faith as a Catholic Christian? Are you Catholic over the age of 18 who was never confirmed and would like to to receive this sacrament?
