Mid-week Minute Devotional thought
Greetings Church Friends and Family, I share with you a verse from the book of James.
“17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17 NIV)
James, the author of this book of the Bible, was the brother of Jesus Christ. He grew up with Him in the house. He was the younger brother; he looked up to Jesus and lived with Jesus. What James writes here must indeed stem from his experience with Jesus. He experienced God's light firsthand.
The devil wants to convince us that we cannot trust this Light – after all, look at the world's condition these days! He wants us not to entrust our lives to this Light. However, we know that evil cannot tolerate the Light.
We cannot function in our lives without this Light. We must take control of our emotions and vigorously oppose the devil. We must trust God fully and leave our lives in His hands. How can we want to do anything else at all? Here, from James, we find a marvelous testimony of the Light; The Only Light.
As I consider the “darkness” I’ve found myself in the last few weeks due to some significant unforeseen circumstances and looming academic deadlines, I have to admit; I felt somewhat overwhelmed. Nevertheless, every time, just as I got ready to cry out “Lord save me!!”, God produced some “miracle,” allowing me to see some light at the end of the proverbial tunnel, giving me hope to keep on keeping on. What a good and perfect gift?!
I pray that you will experience HIS Light in whatever circumstance you find yourself in this week. Be blessed!!
PS. Thank you so much for your kind messages of support and encouragement during these last two weeks of intense academic struggles. I’m almost done with this leg of the journey.

NIGHT AT THE MEYERSON
Southwestern Adventist University’s (SWAU) 29th annual
A Night at the Meyerson concert will be hosted on February 27, 2022, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in downtown Dallas, Texas. The concert is the finale of Southwestern Adventist University’s Music Festival which brings talented high school musicians from across the United States together each spring for vigorous music education and performance. The music festival features a mass choir, symphony orchestra, and guest artists.
During the festival, the students learn a variety-filled repertoire featuring musical masterworks in addition to new compositions. This marks the fifth year that the festival has partnered with a composer to write a commissioned piece to be premiered during the concert at the Meyerson. Following Ēriks Ešenvalds, Kim André Arnesen, Craig Courtney, and Dr. Brandon A. Boyd, this year’s festival will feature British composer, Philip Stopford, world-renowned for his beautiful choral music. Stopford has an impressive musical background and a reputation as a fun, engaging, and meticulous choir trainer.
The goal of this annual concert is to promote musical achievement among young musicians and provide scholarships that will enable students to thrive as they engage in music while pursuing their college degrees. This wonderful tradition continues because of the many sponsors that support this event; we are grateful for their generosity. This year, the university seeks to raise $100,000!
Prayer Requests
Yes, we have several prayer groups that meet during the week, but some have expressed the need to be able to communicate prayer requests to bring before the Lord during our worship service, and they either do not attend in person at present or do not feel comfortable presenting their requests in person. This may also help us cut sometime during our service if we have the requests ready to go.
Please submit your prayer requests that you want to be prayed over during church service, to Pastor Eugene, 1. Via email (eugene@arlingtonadventist.com) or 2. Via Text Message or WhatsApp. (512.708.0600)
