Constructed from a wealth of archival footage, King: A Filmed Record... Montgomery to Memphis is a monumental documentary that follows Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from 1955 to 1968, in his rise from regional activist to world-renowned leader of the Civil Rights movement. Rare footage of King's speeches, protests, and arrests are interspersed with scenes of other high-profile supporters and opponents of the cause, punctuated by heartfelt testimonials by some of Hollywood's biggest stars.
King was originally presented as a one-night-only special event on March 20, 1970, at an epic length of more than three hours (plus intermission). Since that time, the film has occasionally been circulated in a version shortened by more than an hour. Newly restored by the Library of Congress, in association with Richard Kaplan, and utilizing film elements provided by The Museum of Modern Art, the original version of King can again be seen in its entirety, mastered in HD from the 35mm preservation negative.
Admitted to the National Film Registry in 1999, King is a cinematic national treasure that allows viewers to be first-hand witnesses to Dr. King's crusade, and thereby gain a fuller appreciation of both the personal challenges he endured and the vast cultural legacy he left behind.

Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.

Poetry Means Creativity, and You Create Hope
At the Fourth World Meeting of Popular Movements, Pope Francis thanked the "Social Poets" of the world, who "have the ability and the courage to create hope where there appears to be only waste and exclusion." Every day, we are inspired by the stories of remarkable young justice-seekers who create hope in their own communities.
In honor of NETWORK's 50th Anniversary, we want to uplift and celebrate the next generation of activists. If you know an inspiring young person (age 18-30) engaged in the work of building a just society for all,
Eligibility
The award will be given to four faith-based justice-seekers, age 18-30, who demonstrate:- Creativity and Hope
- Characteristics of Sister-Spirit in their work
- Commitment to centering racial justice in their personal and communal formation, advocacy efforts, and organizing outreach
- Commitment to ongoing leadership in their field of advocacy and movement building
Award
$500 and travel/hotel expenses to attend the NETWORK Advocates Training and 50th Anniversary Gala, April 21-23, 2022 in Washington, D.C.
Nominations Process
Nominations may be submitted by a mentor, colleague, peer, supervisor or teacher/professor who has witnessed their advocacy and justice efforts. The nominator should submit the online nomination form, and can also include up to a single page of supplementary biographical information.
Deadline for nominations is Monday, January 31, 2022.

on Thursday mornings (unless noted) from 9:30 am - 11:30 am - in person or on Zoom.
Current Oakland Diocese Guidelines require in-person attendees to show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test administered within 72 hours of attending the meeting.
Masks are required.

J.T. Johnson is a civil rights activist and business consultant. He is a National Board Member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and President and CEO of Coach Consulting, Inc., a business management and strategic business solutions company.
As a Field Organizer in the 1960’s J.T. assisted Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rev. Ralph Abernathy in their efforts as they navigated the explosive climate of the Civil Rights Movement that plagued the nation. After more than 51 years J.T. Johnson has remained committed and dedicated to social change in our society as he continues to carry out thevision of Dr. King.
