Mass intention: In remembrance of Frank Bibona & Joseph McGuire, requested by Kathy Bibona.
Eight children will receive the sacrament of First Reconciliation on January 29 at Crozet Baptist Church at 11:00. Please keep them and their families in your prayers as they receive this sacrament for the first time.
Our next monthly Christian Formation session (virtual office hour) is scheduled for January 30. On that day, rather than meet with our middle and high-school teens in person, we’d like to meet with ALL middle and high school children via Zoom (even if they are not enrolled in our Christian Formation program). We will be talking about some social and service opportunities at that time. We will send information about those sessions via Flocknote later in the week.

Synod means ‘journeying together’ and it involves listening to the Holy Spirit and to each other in order to discern the path we are called to walk together.
The synod “is intended to inspire people to dream about the Church we are called to be, to make people’s hopes flourish, to stimulate trust, to bind up wounds, to weave new and deeper relationships, to learn from one another, to build bridges, to enlighten minds, warm hearts, and restore strength to our hands for our common mission.”
Our basic question is: What is the Holy spirit saying to our Church today?
To prepare yourself to participate in one of the 2 hour sessions, please download the Participant’s Guide so that you may prayerfully consider the questions. This guide is also available on the diocese of Richmond’s website or in Flocknote (PDF).

Fellowship after Mass: We will continue to have fellowship each Sunday. To increase everyone's comfort level, in hopes of encouraging more people to attend, all snacks will be purchased pre-packaged.

Haiti Ministry:

Social Justice Update: Thank you to all who donated to our St. Vincent de Paul Holy Trinity Conference in 2021. Last month during our Keep the Lights On fundraiser, we received ~$8,000, which enabled us to help many friends with unpaid utility bills so that their service could be restored. In addition, we received a $4,000 grant from the Diocese of Richmond Fuel and Hunger Fund. It is only with such support that we can help our friends in need, for which we are very grateful and truly blessed. Thank you for helping us help others.

St. Blaise | February 3
You may be familiar with the annual “blessing of throats” that many parishes in the United States use to commemorate the beloved bishop and martyr. St. Blaise lived in the fourth century in Turkey and Armenia. Due to religious persecution, he was forced to flee and hide in a cave in the back country in order to save his life.
History has it that one day a group of hunters stumbled upon where St. Blaise was living. They found the bishop kneeling in prayer, surrounded by wolves, lions, and bears that he had tamed. The legend has it that as the hunters dragged Blaise off to prison, a mother came with her young son who had a fish bone lodged in his throat. At Blaise’s command, the child was able to cough up the bone and thus lived.
Today we remember the saint on his feast day by taking two candles, crossing them against the throat, and saying the following prayer:
Through the intercession of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God deliver you from ailments of the throat and from every other evil. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
