Today is the Memorial of St. Timothy &
St. Titus, Bishops
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth,” (Tim 2:15). [1]
These two great men were disciples and companions of St. Paul and stalwarts in the early church’s missionary efforts. They figure prominently in the Letters of Paul, the Pastoral Epistles addressed to them, and in the Acts of the Apostles. St. Timothy accompanied St. Paul on his second missionary journey and was entrusted to aide the Thessalonians, Corinthians and Ephesians. St. Titus is addressed as St. Paul’s ‘true child after a common faith’ and was called to missionary work in Crete. In these saints, we see a willingness and generousness to proclaim the Gospel wherever they were called. The Pastoral
Epistles addressed to them offer
guidance for all those who minister in the church. [2][3]

LET US UNITE IN COMMON PRAYER
FOR PEACE IN UKRAINE.
Last Sunday, the Holy Father, Pope Francis announced today, Wednesday, January 26, as the Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace in Ukraine.
At the initiative of His Beatitude, Patriarch Sviatoslav, all-day prayer vigil for Ukraine will be held in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, in which every Eparchy of our Church will participate. This vigil will start at 9 am Kyiv time (or 4 pm EST time), will last 12 hours and will be broadcast live on ZHYVE TV on YouTube and Facebook.

Reflection
Mothers placing their children for adoption often face many challenges along the way. One of the greatest obstacles can be inaccurately perceiving adoption as abandonment. But mothers who make an adoption plan for their children are not abandoning their children. Rather, they are exemplifying the sacrificial love of Christ on the Cross in choosing to do what is best for their children, even at great cost to themselves. Like Christ, they pour out their bodies and souls for the sake of another. The Letter to the Hebrews reminds us that, in the face of fears and trials, we can “hold fast to the hope that lies before us. This we have as an anchor of the soul, sure and firm” (Heb 6:18-19). We pray that each expectant mother choosing adoption will be filled with “the peace of God that surpasses all understanding” (Phil 4:7) as she makes a loving choice for her child. Let us all cling fast to the anchor of hope, for we have received “a spirit of adoption, through which we cry, ‘Abba, Father!’” (Rom 8:15).

Many of the tips given are also helpful for supporting a friend who is experiencing a challenging or unexpected pregnancy, even if adoption has not been brought up. The formulas of faith are important because they permit one to express, assimilate, celebrate, and share together with others the truths of the faith through a common language.

The Church, although made up of persons who have diverse languages, cultures, and rites, nonetheless professes with a united voice the one faith that was received from the one Lord and that was passed on by the one Apostolic Tradition. She confesses one God alone, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and points to one way of salvation. Therefore we believe with one heart and one soul all that is contained in the Word of God, handed down or written, and which is proposed by the Church as divinely revealed.
