Last Sunday morning, we were challenged to consider how each of us can approach the Lord ourselves, no longer relying solely on someone else to go get God’s words and bring them to us.
The path to God’s presence is open to each of us and, as we saw, there is a lot of room at the top of the mountain. For there is not simply a mountaintop that we are pursuing, but a ridge, a place with room for us all. This is what our name is all about.
Jesus’ prayer for us in John 17.3 is our key verse: “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
This week, we will begin to look in-depth at the process we will use to bring every person who is a part of The Ridge TO the ridge! We will be going to an often overlooked corner of the New Testament, 2 Peter.
In chapter 1, we will be covering verses 1-11. The key verses we will be examining for the entire study are 5-7, but they are sandwiched between some powerful thoughts given to us by Peter.
He is in a very unique position as a writer, and we will look over his very incredible résumé as we approach this text. We will be focusing on the before and after verses this week, 1-4, and 8-11.

Let me remind you of our weekly prayer gatherings on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 and Thursday mornings at 10:00. We had two awesome meetings again this week. Be a part of the ones who light the fire each week!

Though Christmas is quickly getting behind us at this point, we have two “leftovers” still on the table in the back that you are welcome to.
One is the Advent devotionals. They are specifically dated for this year, and we probably will create a new one next year, but you are welcome to take one regardless. There are four left, I believe.
Also, we have four of the gifts left that Eileen and I gave out during the family communion on Christmas Eve. The gift is a golden nail ornament with a poem.
After Sunday, I will remove both the devotionals and the ornaments.

On Sunday, January 21, we will be holding a new member meeting immediately after the morning service for anyone who would like to become a formal member of The Ridge.
Our wonderful hospitality team is preparing a meal for this, so please let me know if you are interested in attending. They need an accurate count, so that we have enough food for everyone!

On January 28, we will have a congregational meeting following the morning service. We want to share with you the “state of the church” (and it’s virtually all good!), some other important things that you need to be aware of, as well as tell you about opportunities for ministry that are available.
The church is providing pizza for the meal, so you don’t want to miss out!

There is still need of someone to sign on as librarian for the worship team. This would involve maintaining our music files, and putting our sheet music away every week. This would normally only take about 10 or 15 minutes a week.
I also could use someone to help me put together the announcement PowerPoint each week. If this is something that interests you, please let me know!

Apparently, some of you did not realize how these hyperlinks for the songs work. On your smart phone, tablet, or PC, you can tap on the underlined words below, and you will be taken to a website where you can hear the song, with the words displayed on the video (for most of them).
Here are most of the songs we will be using on Sunday:
Here are the ones from last week:
Take me in (this one has additional verses and sections that the version we sang)
Let's look with expectation to what God will do this week!
