HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
I realize that lots of folks don't like the hype of Valentine's Day, but I think that in a world where we still struggle to treat each other with dignity, mercy, and compassion, that it's WONDERFUL to have a day that focuses on LOVE. And as much as I enjoy a sweet card and some flowers from Tim on February 14, my heart truly melts with a kind word or selfless action because LOVE is a verb; it is desiring the good of another above our own good. In 1 Corinthians we hear that love isn't selfish and in John 13 Jesus says, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, you must love one another." He doesn't say it would be a good idea to love one another, Jesus says in order to be his disciple, we MUST love one another. Lets spend a little time today asking God to show us how we can better love him by more fully loving those we meet each day, particularly those who are different from us.
