What’s happening in the parish hall at St. Mary of the Rosary?
—The morning of January 4, a major flood was discovered in the parish hall, library, offices, hallway, and restrooms. A water pipe above the utility room ceiling had frozen and burst.
—T&M Restoration came in and did water extraction, cove base and tile removal, and hole drilling in drywall for optimal drying. Samples were taken and submitted for asbestos testing; results were negative.
—The estimated cost of the clean-up and repair is $110,000. Thankfully, we have good insurance through Catholic Mutual, and our deductible is just $1,000.
—A shipping container in the parking lot is being used to store the furnishings from the hall. A list of damaged/destroyed items has been prepared and submitted to the insurance adjuster.
—Drywall repair/replacement should begin shortly. All carpeting and linoleum will be pulled and replaced. Touch-up painting will follow. The pastoral council made selections for carpet and linoleum, and the materials have been ordered.
—Affected areas are available for limited use until restoration begins.
—The estimated time for completion is 2-3 months.
