Father John Jimenez took some time to visit the jail in San Bruno on Ash Wednesday, where he was able to distribute ashes individually at each cell and pray with the people.
Although in-person services have been limited throughout the pandemic, the Restorative Justice Ministry has been able to conduct some services virtually, in addition to in-person visits by Father Rene Iturbe, S.M., chaplain. As restrictions lift, the Ministry plans to resume more in-person visits by volunteers as well.
High school juniors and seniors are invited to participate in a religious liberty essay contest on the theme "witnesses to freedom." Entries should discuss a person or group that stood up for religious freedom.
Sponsored by the USCCB Committee for Religious Liberty in collaboration with the Secretariat of Catholic Education and Our Sunday Visitor Institute, the contest offers prizes up to $2,000 and inclusion in Our Sunday Visitor. All entries are due by March 30, 2022.
