Participate with your candidate in activities such as going to a movie, inviting him or her for ice cream. Be creative.
Establish a regular time to be with or talk to your candidate. Let him or her know that your friendship makes a difference in your life.
Be willing to enter into discussion about the differing values around us and affirm the healthy, life-giving choices of your candidate. Model healthy choices and relationships on your own life.
Recommend and even buy for your candidate spiritual reading, "reflections for every day," that link faith to life.
Expose your candidate to professional acquaintances in particular fields and vocations as he or she explores possible vocational choices.
Share with your candidate the significant moments in your faith life. Ask open-ended questions (why, how, where, when) that encourage him or her to explore how his or her faith is experienced in life.
Participate with your candidate in community service activities
Encourage your candidate to get involved in different capacities within the parish
Help you candidate explore different ways to pray in a variety of ways. Send him or her scripture notes periodically.
Find five other adults who will pray for your candidate.
