Bishop Mario E. Dorsonville, chairman of the USCCB Committee on Migration, has issued a statement on the termination of Title 42, the policy that prevents migrants from entering the United States due to COVID-19 concerns. In it he calls for a comprehensive immigration plan "that ensures the humane treatment of all persons and respects their God-given dignity, while safeguarding due process."
The statement was
echoed by other Catholic leaders and organizations, who have called for immigration policy that respects human dignity, while pledging to continue serving the people in need, regardless of how the policies develop. (Photo: Catholic News Agency)
