Michelangelo's Three Pietas: A Lenten Retreat for Artists and Art Lovers
Tuesday, April 12, 2022, 7:30 pm | Via Zoom
This year's Lenten Retreat for Artists and Art Lovers will ask us to contemplate the Three Pietas of Michelangelo – Mystery of Beauty, Mystery of Suffering, and Grace. Take a few hours from the busy whir of modern life this Lent in the company of your fellow artists and art-lovers to reflect deeply on these great themes, through the prism of the three occasions in which the great Michelangelo depicted a Pieta, the dead Christ in his Mother's arms.
Joining Amy Guiliano and Archbishop Cordileone to discuss the mystery of beauty and the mystery of suffering will be Dr. Anthony Lilles, academic dean of St. Patrick's Seminary and Jennifer Donelson-Nowicka, associate professor and the director of sacred music at St. Joseph’s Seminary (Dunwoodie) in New York.
As always we ask those who can reasonably afford it to contribute $25 in lieu of a ticket. But come and be refreshed. Share the company of your fellow artists and art lovers as we journey through suffering to the Resurrection. Register above to get Zoom link.

In his role as primary teacher of the Church, Pope Francis has issued recently several important documents. Chief among them is Laudato Si’ (On Care for Our Common Home) and Fratelli Tutti (On Fraternity and Social Relationship). The talks in this short series will investigate some of the biblical grounding of the Holy Father’s thinking.
Laudato Si’

April 26 — At the very foundation of our creature hood, we are connected with all other Earth creatures (Gen 2:7, 9, 19, 22-23; 9:9-10; Hos 2:20)
May 3 — As Earth creatures, we are totally dependent on Earth, and in many ways, Earth is dependent on us (Hos 2:10-11; Exod 20:11 (Deut 5:15); Exod 23:10-11; Lev 25:1-4)
Fratelli Tutti
