Encounter with the Sacred
He [Jesus] put his finger into the man’s ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, “Ephphatha!” (that is, “Be opened!”) And [immediately] the man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. (Mark 7:33b-35 NABRE)
God speaks to me in many different ways: through the Scriptures, through the circumstances of my life, with its joys and sufferings, and through the people I meet, specially the people I haven’t seen them for a long time. An ordinary conversation, a beautiful smile, a tears eyes, an old family pictures, a silent moment in front of your loved ones’ gravestone.... can turn into a sacred encounter. Do I always listen to and obey His voice? What kind of impediment do I have? My biases, my preconceived notions... What a terrible thing it would be if God did not speak to me anymore because I do not listen to Him!
Speak to me, Lord; Your servant is listening.
Peace in Christ,
