Archdiocese of San Francisco
Last week a group of volunteers gathered to prepare Easter "baskets" in the form of goody bags with personalized cards. The more than 850 cards were delivered to individuals in the San Francisco jails as part of the Cards of Mercy project.
Students from throughout the Archdiocese sent in handmade cards, which were included in the goody bags that the volunteers assembled. The
Cards of Mercy project continues for holidays throughout the year, with Mother's Day and Father's Day next on the calendar. (Pictured: Students from Stella Maris Academy write Easter messages.)
Pope Francis called for peace in his Easter message and Urbi et Orbi address on Easter Sunday. "Please, please, let us not get used to war! Let us all commit ourselves to imploring peace, from our balconies and in our streets!" he urged.
In addition to the war in Ukraine,
the Holy Father mentioned various issues in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Canada, and other parts of the world, calling for prayer to end suffering in these areas. (Photo: Vatican Media)
