Brothers and Sisters,
Mark tells us, “A leper came to Jesus and pleaded on his knees,” “If you want to,” he said, “You can cure me.” Feeling sorry for him, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him. “Of course, I want to,” He said, “be cured,” and the leprosy left him at once and he was cured.
Jesus cured that leper. I am certain there is not a single person reading this article who would have it any other way. We want a compassionate, miracle-working Jesus who will listen to our troubles, have pity on us, and make those troubles disappear.
But what we sometimes fail to recognize is that from the moment we identify with the compassionate, miracle-working Jesus, He began to prepare us for a ministry of compassion - a ministry of reaching out to others.
As a true follower of Jesus, you are a caring person, because you are sensitive to the needs of others…
- When you see hunger, you give food.
- When you see thirst, you give drink.
- When you see nakedness, you give clothing.
- When you see illness, you give comfort.
- When you see loneliness, you give friendship.
Jesus calls us to be that compassionate person in society today and reach out in love to those lepers in our World—those that we sometimes overlook in our daily lives.
God Bless,
Deacon Del
