8th Grade Event

Welcome to High School

April 24

THIS SUNDAY from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, all 8th graders and their parents are invited to join us for this fun event, designed to help both students and parents feel more prepared for the next step of the journey: high school!

8th graders will have an opportunity to ask current high schoolers all their questions about high school and parents will have a chance to share with other parents about this next step. Plus we'll play some minute-to-win-it games and feast on some ice cream sundaes! (Seriously, it's going to be so much fun!)

Volunteers needed for Easter Egg Hunt // This Sunday

Mrs. Cathcart needs help hiding over 400 Easter eggs for our Easter Egg Hunt this Sunday! If you have a middle schooler or high schooler that would like to help, please contact me at christines@blessed-midland.org. Volunteers should plan on meeting by the playground at 10:00 AM. Hiding the eggs should take about 30-40 minutes (depending how many volunteers there are).

Cedar Point // June 1

Deadline to sign up: April 29!

Can you even believe it?! We're FINALLY going back to Cedar Point, and registration is now OPEN! Perhaps the best news of all is that you can now register and pay ONLINE! Whoo!

Date: June 1

Cost: $106 per person (includes transportation, park ticket, and an all-day drink wristband)

Who can come: Any current middle and high school students (students do not have to be members of our Catholic parishes). Friends are welcome!

Reminder: Every student must register with a buddy who they agree to stay with the entire day.

New this year: Cedar Point has gone cashless. Please plan ahead by choosing an alternative method of payment for your child. You can read about Cedar Point's Cash-to-Card kiosks and other recommended forms of payment here: https://www.cedarpoint.com/cashless

Deadline to sign up: April 29. Register as soon as you can! Seats on the buses are limited and are first-come, first-serve!

Chaperones: Adult chaperones are needed and go for free! You can read about chaperone responsibilities and express your interest in being a chaperone on the registration form.

Youth Ministry Family Picnic // May 1

All families with middle and high school aged children are invited to join us at Assumption for hot dogs, a parents vs. students kickball game, and a s'mores bar! Bring the WHOLE family, regardless of age!

Middle school students who participated in Youth Ministry this year will also recieve their book that chronicles their summary of Salvation History at the event!

Proactive Parenting Event // May 15

Pam Singer, CEO of Midland Kids First, will be at Blessed Sacrament on May 15, 6-8 pm to present the findings of Midland's most recent Midland County Youth Survey, which gauges the well-being of our youth (specifically by studying how engaged they are with the 40 Developmental Assests). Taken in 2020, the study gives us an incredibly important look into the well-being of our youth in Midland County and the impact that the pandemic has had on them.

The results of the survey give parents and any adults who work with youth concrete evidence of those things that are most important for the well-being of our kids.

I have seen Pam's presentation, and I 100% believe that every parent or adult who works with youth will want to see this information AND will feel empowered to take concrete steps towards improving their children's environment and well-being.

So mark your calendar and invite your friends! You won't want to miss it!
