I am also extending this invitation to the parishioners there, as well as to those at St. Mary’s Parish in Pylesville where I assisted on weekends back in the 1990s and again in recent years.

Mother’s Day Breakfast, May 8, after all Masses. Start Mom’s special day off right by taking her to breakfast at St. Mary’s on Mother’s Day. The Knights will be serving breakfast after each Mass in the Parish Hall. The menu includes fried bread, sausage, home fries, scrambled eggs, juice, coffee, or tea. After breakfast, each Mother will receive a marigold as she leaves. We look forward to serving you.
Blood Drive, Thursday, May 12, 1-6 PM, Parish Center. The American Red Cross and the North Harford Interfaith Community are again be hosting a blood drive at St. Mary’s Church. The critical need for all blood types continues, especially Type O, for babies, patients who are currently undergoing treatment for an illness or experience a medical emergency. Blood supplies continue to remain low due to the pandemic.
Appointments are now available from 1 to 6 PM. Anyone wishing to donate MUST schedule an appointment. Sorry, but we cannot accept walk-in donors at the present time. Masks must be worn at all times in the parish center and during your donation.

Sacrament of Confirmation, Sunday June 5 11:30 am Mass. Bishop Adam Parker will be the main celebrant, concelebrating with Fr. Kunkel. Most of the church space will be reserved for the Confirmandi, their Sponsors, and their families who will be attending. We ask other parishioners to please consider attending another Mass on the weekend of June 5, if their schedule permits.

Confirmation Updates. We have been forming our teens as Missionary Disciples over the past 2 years to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Our teens realize the importance of being called to be a Disciple of Christ, that our Faith journey is ongoing as they prepare to receive the Sacrament on June 5th.
As part of their Journey in the Spirit our Confirmandi will be attending their Confirmation Retreat on May 14 & 15 at the Msgr. O’Dwyer Retreat House. This is a time for the teens to focus on how the Holy Spirit is moving in their lives without the everyday distractions of life.

On March 10th, five West Point Military Academy cadets survived after overdosing on fentanyl-laced cocaine while on spring break in Florida.
Community activists quickly hit the beaches to talk with the spring breakers about the dangers associated with fentanyl-laced drugs. They turned it into "an opportunity to really beef up our education and prevention efforts by flooding the beaches and the streets". As another example of meeting folks where they are, the activists warned the spring breakers of the surge in recreational drugs that are cut with fentanyl and they distributed units of Narcan. Sixth Month (size: about 14 inches) The baby can now roll over inside the womb. Her oil and sweat glands are functioning. A white filmy layer called vernix covers the baby and protects her delicate skin from the surrounding amniotic fluid. This waxy substance will be quickly absorbed into her skin soon after she is born. She can now respond to sound. Her lungs are fairly well developed and she would stand a good chance of survival if born at this time.

5th Annual Walk for Life - May 14, 8:30 AM – 9:45 AM Save lives by walking with Pregnancy Center North (PCN) on May 14, at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. Women’s Mini Retreat at St. Mark Fallston, June 4, 9:00 AM - 12 Noon. The morning starts with Mass, followed by a light breakfast. Father Michael Foppiano and Seminarian Mike Misulia give reflections followed by breakout discussion time. This gives a chance to reflect and share the insight the Holy Spirit has given. The morning ends with Benediction and Adoration.

Volunteering for the Parish
Volunteers are the backbone of the parish and we welcome new volunteers with open arms. However, in the world today we must do everything we can to protect all people of all ages, the church and also yourself.
If you are ready and willing to give of your time and talent to be a part of one or more of our many ministries, please contact Barbara Sadler, Extension 22 or bsadler@stmaryspylesville.org for the information and guidance of the required Virtus training. The training will provide insight for the protection of all age groups and the responsibilities. DON’T WORRY!! It is an easy procedure.
