Happy Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima.
We honor Mary, as our mother asking for her prayers, intercession, and offering her our devotion. Mary is our spiritual mother that Jesus gave us on the cross when he said mother behold your son, son behold your mother, and so we're meant to have this bond of relationship with our Blessed Mother.
On this feast day of Our Lady of Fatima; we remember, Sister Lucia, the last living visionary of Fatima, she shared the prophecy that the last battle between God and the Kingdom of Satan would be about marriage and the family. Showing how important those bonds that we share in our family are because God wants to have this bond of communion, of community, of union with us and that is exhibited in our families.
Today, the U S bishops have asked every Catholic to fast and to pray for what is going on in the Supreme Court right now in our nation's fight against life or for life, if we will honor the gift of every human life.
We want to pray that those bonds might be strong in us as individuals and in our church, our parish, in our neighborhood, and in our world. One of the ways that I want to strengthen the bond that we share here in this parish is: on Sunday after the First Communion Mass at 10:30, I want to invite everybody out to the covered structure. I'm very grateful to our Knights of Columbus we will have a barbeque to honor these first communion kids and the special moment for their families. All are welcome to come. It's also my 10th year anniversary as a priest and I wanted to do something to thank you, to gather us all together and to rejoice in these bonds of love that we've been able to share over the last ten years. In our parish we've had parishioners that aren't here anymore, we've welcomed new parishioners, new lives born, and some have died. It’s a good time to gather us to have some community and rejoice in these bonds of love that we have. I want to say thank you for all that you've done for me.
Happy feast of Our Lady of Fatima, have a great day dive into that prayer and fasting and ask the Lord to share with us his own bonds of love that he has planned for us in heaven that we may live it on earth.
God Bless,
Fr. Matt
