Happy Sunday,
This week we crowned Mary and today is Mother's Day. It is not a coincident that these two things generally happen around the same time each year in the month of Mary. Mary gave us such a wonderful example of how to follow God and be a mother at the same time. For me, it is always easier to understand the emotions of Mary in the Gospel, because I can picture how my mother or wife might respond if she were put into the same situation. To recognize the joy and pride that she must have felt while at the same time realizing the fear and sadness that must have always been in the back of her mind. She loved her Son just like any mother would, but she trusted God like only she could.
Mother's love us unconditionally, they teach us and show us the way, they correct us and hug us. They are our first loves and our strongest supporters. We know Mary was these things for Jesus, which is why she is Blessed. This Mother's Day I want to thank all of the mothers in our community for your love, guidance, support, and trust. For being such passionate advocates for your children and such great examples for all of us. I pray that you all feel that love reciprocated today and every day, and that you realize the true impact you have in the lives of your children. May God bless you especially today.

Chefs Mikey & Bev Like it!
Healthier Choices Spice Demonstration and Small plate tasting
Tuesday, May 10th at 6 PM in the Parish Hall
Sign up below to join a fun evening where Chef's Mikey and Bev will demonstrate how to do a simple, inexpensive, and healthy small plate, and how spices work to improve our health! All attendees will recieve a small plate and a large box of spices to use at home. The event is free and kids are welcome, so you can make it a family event!

1st Grade Teacher Needed for the 2022-2023 School Year
Sacred Heart School is looking to hire a 1st grade teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. The candidate must be licensed to teach in the state of Kansas, be or willing to be Virtus trained, and be a willing follower and instructor of church teachings. If you know of someone interested, please have them reach out to Mr. O'Neill at doneill@shemporia.org.
Enrollment now open for the 2022-2023 School Year!
You can now enroll your children for next school year! An email was sent home last week containing the instructions for enrollment. You simply need to log into your account, select "Complete Family/Student Registration Information for Next Year", and update any of your information that has changed. If nothing has changed then you just click through the pages and you are done. It should only take a couple of minutes!
If you do not have a user name listed on your letter, please email Mr. O'Neill and her will get you a new letter. You can call the school office if you have any questions.
LIBRARY NEWS
Book Returns:
The end of the school year is quickly approaching! SHS library books need to be returned by Wednesday, May 11th. This week, reminder notes will be sent home for books that haven't been returned in more than two weeks. Please help your student look for missing books. Common "hiding" places are under beds, sofas, chairs, in the car, on the coffee table buried under other items, on the bookshelf, etc. If books can not be located by May 11th, invoices will be sent to replace the missing books and need to be paid before the last day of school. Report cards may be held for non-payment.
Book Swap:
May 18th will be our last library day, and we have planned a Book Swap to promote summer reading! Please have your child bring in a gently used book or two to exchange for another book of their choice. All students will receive at least one book (maybe more!), even if they forget to bring one to swap. Don't be surprised if your student comes home with more than one book, as we have plenty that have been donated over the past year or so. Also, please note that we will make every effort to guide students to books on their reading level, but ultimately, it will be their choice. Finally, the books from the book swap do NOT need to be returned and may be used to swap again in the future. This should be a fun activity for all!
