Why is everyone is dissatisfied, even atheists?
This Sunday's gospel told how Jesus was 'transfigured' before his disciples. Jesus allowed a peek beyond our own world into something more that we are being drawn towards. So what’s the answer? We must empty ourselves so that we can let God, who is perfect and eternal, fill us with himself. Then we will be eternally satisfied.
The greatest experiences we have always leave us wanting more. Sex, friendship, pleasure of any kind, never finally fills us. Why? God has created us with a longing that only he can fill. The failure to seek God ultimately leads us to deep frustration and sadness. Please watch Bishop Barron's short video on why human experience always leaves us wanting more. If you like the trailer, it is an excerpt from the larger 50 minute movie entitled "A Vast Company of Witnesses." - Which of the four “idols” of pleasure, power, honor, and wealth do you tend to seek most often?
