Good Morning,
I hope your Easter is going well, that it's a time where we're able to recognize and listen to The Spirit more and more in our lives. To truly live from the spirit of Jesus Christ. The Easter candle, that “Christ light” is that solid and strong image of Christ came into the world substantially, and because of Him my life is now different.
This weekend, on Saturday the 21st, Anthony Hoang Phan who used to be with us as a seminarian for the summer is going to be ordained a Deacon along with two others. He was so touched by Christ that it totally changed the trajectory of his life. For each of us that's true, maybe we don't become deacons and priests, but we live our lives differently because of Christ. All are welcome at Anthony's ordination at the Cathedral at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
In the back of our church, we have envelopes for a collection for Catholic Charities here in Oregon. Maybe some of us aren't strong at going out and serving the homeless or the refugees, we just don't have all the skills that it takes. By our contribution to this practical love, I can make a sacrificial gift so that my life might be different, that my life might be more like Christ. I encourage if you haven't yet given to Catholic charities to pick up one of those envelopes and to give what you can.
I pray you take some time in your prayer this week just to ask the Lord, what is the voice of the good spirit saying to me? What is your good spirit drawing me to, and what are you desiring for me to look at and shed light on in my life? Lord, I want to be different because I have encountered your love.
Most of all, I encourage you in your daily ordinary life to live according to the Holy Spirit.
God Bless,
Fr. Matt
