We hope you have been having a wonderful week. The weather has definitely warmed up and the Blues brought home a winner last night and today it is BEAUTIFUL outside. There is so much to be thankful for!
This weekend is DONUT SUNDAY after the 8 AM and 10 AM Mass. On Sunday, we also get to meet our new principal Mrs. Kromraj! She will introduce herself during the 10 AM Mass and then we will head over the the SCA cafeteria to grab a donut and say hello. Take note of the location change!

THE CONVERSATION
I hope you will join me on May 21 as our parish hosts a free seminar by the Roman Catholic Foundation on end-of-life issues. I will be giving the presentation on funeral and cemetery planning. You will learn more about Church teaching on end-of-life issues so you can clearly communicate to your family about these difficult decisions. This free seminar is for everyone: singles, parents of young families, those caring for aging parents, and those facing illness or death. There will be no solicitation at The Conversation and lunch will be provided. I highly recommend this seminar to help you plan well. ANOINTING OF THE SICK
As we are talking about end-of-life issues at the upcoming seminar, I want to remind you about the Sacrament of Anointing. The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. A careful judgment about the serious nature of the illness is sufficient. When the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is given, the hoped for effect is that, if it be God's will, the person be physically healed of illness. But even if there is no physical healing, the primary effect of the Sacrament is a spiritual healing by which the sick person receives the Holy Spirit's gift of peace and courage to deal with the difficulties that accompany serious illness or the frailty of old age.
As we will be facing limited numbers of priests in the future, it will be important to make sure you plan your sacramental care. Do not wait until the last minute before death to call a priest. Ideally, the sick person would have a visit with the priest while they are still conscious so they can make a good confession and receive Holy Communion. Waiting until the last minute is too risky. Please make sure your family knows you want to see a priest when you are ill or close to death. Priests will always do their best to get to you in emergencies, but careful planning of your end-of-life sacraments is best.
PSR END OF THE YEAR
Monday we will end our regular school year of Parish School of Religion with a closing Mass. We give thanks to God for all the good works and religious formation that happened this year. I thank our Coordinator, Sheila Trani, for all she has done to lead this important program. Much thanks go out to all the catechists as well who give of their time and talents to pass on the faith to our young people. Let’s pray that God bless our students as they take time off this summer from school. We look forward to them coming back in the fall.
ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL UPDATE
Thank you to all who have supported the Annual Catholic Appeal. We raised $327,212 and our parish 2022 published goal was $285,200 and our challenge goal was $342,458. That is 114% of our published goal raised! Way to go St. Clare!

Eucharist: Studying the Mass in the Bible
Starts Tues., June 7th | 1—3 PM | Assisi House "The Lamb of God," "The Bread of Life," "The Body and the Blood of Christ"... these are phrases we know from the Mass.
