Dear Parents and Family,
Typically, Life Teen recommends that I send the Parent Letter to you at the conclusion of the Life Night. In this case, Life Teen recommends that I send you the Parent Letter ahead of time. -Chris
This week at Life Teen & Edge, your son or daughter will learn more about how both faith and reason compel us to protect life, from conception to natural death. The night will begin with a light-hearted game, followed by a teaching that will discuss the fact that through reason and the scientific study of embryology — in addition to our faith, which upholds the dignity of human life — we can come to the conclusion that abortion is wrong and that we need to pray for and support mothers who are considering abortion. The youth will then hear about the concept of spiritual adoption that was popularized by Fulton Sheen and be encouraged to pray for a mother who is considering abortion and her baby over the next nine months. The night will end
with all of the youth praying a prayer for spiritual adoption together.

Main Ideas
• Through the scientific study of embryology, we can come to a concrete and
reasonable conclusion that there is a human being in the womb of a pregnant
woman and that abortion is wrong.
• Faith reinforces the scientific proof of human life and that abortion is wrong, but
it also provides us with greater compassion and understanding of the dignity of
all human persons.
• The Church calls us to help unborn babies and mothers who are considering
abortion through prayer and by making donations, as well as by working in our
communities and demanding government action.
Catechism Reference
“God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any
circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being”
(CCC 2258).
Scripture Reference
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5).
