From the Pastor: Dimítte Nobis Debita Nostra
There are few things more obvious in the world than the reality of evil. We see all around us that something is not as it should be. We experience deep within ourselves an inability to do the good things we desire to do. The name we give to this unfortunate reality is sin.
We don't like to acknowledge sin. Therefore in the last 100 years we have tried our best to excuse or justify so many actions which have been rightly understood for thousands of years to be sin. It makes us uncomfortable. Saying that things are not as they should be makes the future seem hopeless. Yet sin is only a hopeless obstacle if we do not have faith! The faith that emboldens us to go to our heavenly Father and say, "Forgive us our trespasses..."
Sin truly is a trespass against our loving God. In every sin we betray the person He created us to be. We betray the love which He has shown us. While we can distinguish between a mortal and a venial sin, there really is no such thing as a small sin. (If only we could see the great pain that one intentional venial sin inflicts in the Sacred Heart of our Lord, it would bring us to our knees in sorrow and repentance!) And so our Lord instructs us to ask God our Father to pardon all our sins. He teaches us to trust in the possibility of forgiveness. He reminds us that our sins are great, but God's mercy is greater!
This powerful line of the Lord's prayer points us in hope to the confessional. What is there to be afraid of, when we trust that He is going to lift the weight of our sins from our shoulders? What could hold us back, when we know that we are great sinners in need of the mercy He offers? What could be a greater expression of faith, of belief, than to bear our souls before the Lord with the certainty that He will respond with forgiveness? We say all of this and more, each time that we pray "forgive us our trespasses."

Poliza de Bendiciones en SPN / Policy for Blessings of Religious Articles at SPN
Blessings of religious articles are frequently requested in our parish. This is a sign of vibrant Catholic culture and devotion, and I am very grateful! However, the requests for blessings often interrupt greetings with parishioners after Mass or are unable to be accommodated for other reasons. For this reason, effective June 2022, the blessing of religious articles will take place ONLY on the first Sunday of the month following all Sunday Masses. There will be a table near the St. Joseph altar where items should be placed BEFORE or AFTER the Mass (Please DO NOT interrupt the celebration of the Mass to place items in the front of Church). Items will be blessed once the priest has finished greeting everyone. Only religious articles which have never been blessed should be presented. Once an item is blessed, it does not need another blessing.
Special consideration may be made for occasions on other Sundays (i.e. First Holy Communion) Below please find a list of items that may be blessed. Thank you for your patience and devotion!
