“And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we commemorate the Rogation Days, traditional days of prayer, and formerly fasting, which take place every year on April 25th and the three days preceding the feast of the Ascension, the former being known as the Major Rogation and the latter as the Minor Rogations. The word “rogation” has its origins in the Latin word “rogare”, which means to supplicate or ask, and the purpose of the Days is to beg God for His mercy, to turn away His anger, and to ask Him to bless the fruits of the earth while protecting us from natural disasters.
The traditional practice of the Rogation Days consists of a procession followed by a Rogation Mass. The procession, which traditionally moved around the territorial borders of the parish, includes the blessing of the fields and other natural features of the landscape during the recitation of the Litany of the Saints.
If you would like to have your specific field blessed, please come to one of the Masses and Deacon Patrick and I will split up and bless fields after our Masses.

“This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” – John 15:12-13
Next weekend we will celebrate Memorial Day. We give thanks for the men and women of our armed services who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us and our nation. Amidst the long weekend and the barbecues, Indy 500 and other festivities, please don’t forget to take time to pray for those souls who gave everything so we can have everything.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
~Amen~
“Entrust your works to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.” – Proverbs 16:3
This week marks the end of the school year at St. Augustine Catholic School and our local public schools! As we transition into the summer months and this great time to continue to grow into the saints that God created us to be, especially our Graduating Seniors, we reflect on the many blessings God has given to us. We continue to pray for our seniors and all of our recent college grads, that God will continue to bless you and that as you “entrust your works to the Lord” not only will you succeed, but you will be abundantly blessed!
God Bless
