Three articles this week: our Garden, welcoming the RCIA "graduates" and Catholic Parish Outreach.
In only it's 2nd year of production, our garden, Lourdes Bounty Community Garden, yielded 800 pounds of produce last year. We are very proud of that progress ...but the need is much, much larger! Food is a major concern for a large number of people in NC.
Greg Estrella, coordinator of the garden ministry, has passed on the following: "We are excited about the new 2018 season since we doubled our harvest capacity (8 beds) from 4 beds in 2016. We really need additional support."
They need more funding of course, but they also need more hands in the dirt and harvesting. And, wouldn't that be a great opportunity for a family to teach the kids another important life-lesson?
Below are pictures of the Kiosk built for the garden by the scouts, led by Eagle Scout candidate Aster Philbrook.
helps with that (and a whole lot of other things). CPO fed 8,700 people a month during 2017 with 1,900 volunteersand 4 paid staff. They distributed 2.8 Million pounds of groceries to residents of Wake, Franklin, and Johnston counties. Part of that comes from our garden. (More about CPO in a few weeks.)
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
journey for our five adults culminated when they were welcomed into our parish and the church at the Easter Vigil on Saturday, March 31, 2018.
(Below) Two adults, Azure Cutter and Michael Merod, received the Sacraments of Initiation; Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
(above) The celebrant, Fr. Bob Schriber, addresses the five adults who were confirmed at the Vigil.
Those who received the sacraments; (Lt. to Rt.) Stephanie Ouellette, Azure Cutter, Mike Wenger, Dana Hilldale and Michael Merod.
Welcome to our Church and the Catholic Faith!
